Rotationally inelastic dynamics of LiH (X1Σ+, v = 0) in collisions with Ar: State-to-state inelastic rotational rate coefficients
A theoretical study of rotational collision of LiH(X(1)Σ(+),v = 0, J) with Ar has been carried out. The ab initio potential energy surface (PES) describing the interaction between the Ar atom and the rotating LiH molecule has been calculated very accurately and already discussed in our previous work [Computational and Theoretical Chemistry 993 (2012) 20-25]. This PES is employed to evaluate the...
متن کاملNear-resonant rotational energy transfer in HCl-H2 inelastic collisions.
We present a new four-dimensional (4D) potential energy surface for the HCl-H2 van der Waals system. Both molecules were treated as rigid rotors. Potential energy surface was obtained from electronic structure calculations using a coupled cluster with single, double, and perturbative triple excitations method. The four atoms were described using the augmented correlation-consistent quadruple ze...
متن کاملQuantum Calculation of Inelastic Co Collisions with H. Ii. Pure Rotational Quenching of High Rotational Levels
Carbon monoxide is a simple molecule present in many astrophysical environments, and collisional excitation rate coefficients due to the dominant collision partners are necessary to accurately predict spectral line intensities and extract astrophysical parameters. We report new quantum scattering calculations for rotational deexcitation transitions of CO induced by H using the three-dimensional...
متن کاملInvestigation of steric effects in inelastic collisions of NO„X 2P... with Ar
Cross sections were determined for collisions of Ar with oriented NO(X P), based on full close-coupled calculations and new ab initio potential energy surfaces ~PESs!. Collisions in which the NO molecules are initially oriented so that the O end preferentially points toward the Ar atom are more effective in promoting spin–orbit changing transitions. The magnitude of the steric asymmetry is cons...
متن کاملMultiscaling in inelastic collisions
We study relaxation properties of two-body collisions on the mean-field level. We show that this process exhibits multiscaling asymptotic behavior as the underlying distribution is characterized by an infinite set of nontrivial exponents. These nonequilibrium relaxation characteristics are found to be closely related to the steady state properties of the system.
